Coin-Op/The Grid,
San Francisco

Housed in a 10,000-square-foot space in San Francisco’s SOMA neighborhood, the Coin Op is a restaurant and bar featuring old-school arcade games from pinball to Pac-Man. The Grid, the latest addition to the space, serves as a modern speakeasy, the “bar within a bar” space. The design was inspired by the movie Tron. Lighting characterizes the contrasting feel between the adjacent spaces; warm, whimsical lighting exudes the techy industrial vibe of the Coin Op while The Grid’s use of sleek, linear lighting and cool tones realizes the futuristic, young crowd comprising the neighborhood.
